What to Pack: Holiday Essentials

If you’re jetting off for some late sun and a more reliable summer climate, check out our holiday essentials so you don’t end up panic buying at the airport or ending up with some dodgy knock-off Ray-bans from a beach vendor.

swimshorts

Forgo the standard navy or pinstripe swimmers for photographic prints this summer; the Bulldog Oceans Edge pair from Orlebar Brown are a winner - they look like tie-dye from afar yet closer inspection reveals a moody shore print. They’re not cheap at £195 but can you put a price on style? If you have money to burn, you can splash out on a pair of customised shorts so you can wear your favourite holiday photo for an eye-watering £395. Rather save your money for mojitos? We also love the range from Oiler & Boiler which are priced around the wallet-friendly £40 mark.

gandy flip flops

The brothers behind Gandys tragically lost their parents in the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami, and started their brand to support their Orphans for Orphans foundation, donating 10% of their profits. You can read more about their inspiring journey here, and you can get your style fix while doing a good deed by purchasing a pair of their flipflops. We like the Zircon Blue Originals, £24, for their beachy colour scheme.

Founded in London, Cubitt’s handmade frames come in sizes regular and large. We want the timeless Bingfield style, £125, which come in nine colourways. Prone to leaving your sunglasses behind? Jeepers Peepers offer a stylish selection that won’t break the bank, from £18.

beard tshirt

We don’t just sell stuff for your beard; our lightweight 100% cotton logo slub tee features our nautical Brighton Beard Company logo to make you feel those summer vibes but will transcend seasons to become your new lazy-day go-to.

mollusk hat

Avoid lobster-face by shielding from the sun in Mollusk’s whale-appliqué denim cap, £40, designed exclusively for MR PORTER. The soft internal canvas browband and leather back tab ensure a comfortable fit and the faded vintage detail will give your look a blasé attitude.

passport holder

Fit for a king (the brand hold a Royal Warrant for their supply and restoration of silverware to the royal household), Thomas Lyte’s Cognac Passport Holder, £49, is crafted from grained vegetable-tanned leather that will age well while protecting the only thing you really need on holiday. Personalise yours for an extra £15 to keep your jealous friends’ mitts off.

best beard gift set

And of course, keep your beard in check with one of our sets. The Conditioning Wash Bag Gift Set, £60, is ideal for city breaks as the 10ml Old Joll’s beard oil and 60ml Creampot Tom’s Beard Balm fall under your liquid allowance, and you can even slice off a piece of The Miller’s Beard Shampoo Bar and leave the rest at home. All stashed in our dapper Hadleigh’s Leather Wash bag.

Don’t forget to check out our tips on how to prep your summer beard and keeping it fresh in the heat before you go, book in any vaccinations, get travel insurance, sort out your money (Revolut and Monzo offer prepaid cards with great exchange rates) and you’re good to go!

Send us your hairy holiday snaps to hello@thebrightonbeardcompany.co.uk or use hashtag #BRIGHTONBEARDotd and we could feature you as our next Beard of the Day (and you'll receive a nice discount in return!)
