Making sense of the scents

The Brighton Beard company started up 5 years ago with only one scent to hand, the original Mandarin, Cedarwood and Juniper berry. To this day it remains the most popular of our scents.

The Old Joll beard Oils come in 3 different scents; The OG Mandarin and Cedarwood, Ylang Ylang and Sandalwood and the Black Pepper and Grapefruit. The scents were carefully chosen not only for their scent profile but for their nourishing properties too. So not only will you smell great but they're so good for the skin too!

Creampot Tom Beard Balm scents

The only scent carried over to the balms is the mandarin and grapefruit, the other scents are Jasmin and Lemon, Lime and Basil, Bergamot and coriander and Neroli and Rose. All very different scents so there's definitely something for everyone, just depends on personal taste (well smell!).

Jasmine and Lemon

Jasmine

Jasmine tea has been drunk for years and is known for it's calmative effects, the oil has the same affect and more; the oil is derived from the Jasmine Flower and used by many as a natural remedy for relieving stress and improving mood by balancing hormones. It has also been known to  treat depression, anxiety, emotional stress, low libido and insomnia.

Lemon

Lemon oil is just an all round good egg (not literally), Lemon is anti everything, but in a good way..... owning antibacterial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Lemon is also well known for giving your immune system a boost which help relives coughing and helps you get on the mend if you have a cold. Lemon is a great for those who suffer with allergies too as it relieves congestion and clears your sinuses. Oh and the obvious it smells wonderful.

Lime and Basil

Lime

Lime oil aside from smelling so fresh, it promotes mental clarity and increase energy and focus. It works to reduce stress and anxiety too, I feel a theme coming on with essential oils.

Basil

Basil oil smells just like basil, so if you like the smell of it you'll love the scent of the beard balm. Like a lot of the other essential oils it helps to relive stress anxiety and depression and can also relive tension from migraines.

Bergamot and Coriander

Bergamot

Bergamot is probably best well know for being a key flavouring in Earl Grey tea, however despite brewing a delicious cuppa it has many health benefits too. The flavonoids present make it an excellent relaxant and and reduce nervous tension and related ailments such as high blood pressure, insomnia and depression.

Coriander oil

Coriander oil is a well known herb delicious on just about everything, except for those of you who think it tastes like soap, sorry about that. Luckily our products aren't for eating just making you look fab. Coriander has been shown to reduce digestive upset and can act to reduce pain, probably not a reason for using it as a beard product but good to know.

Neroli and Rose

Neroli

Neroli essential oil is known for its various health benefits, the oil is derived from the flowers of the orange tree. It is extremely good for treating depression and grief as it lifts up the spirits and is good at calming people down. It has strong sedative qualities due to which it can be used to treat anxiety, stress, and insomnia.

Rose

Research and personal experiences tell us that rose oil can improve acne, balance hormones, relieve anxiety and improve depression, and leaves you smelling like roses (obviously).

It's clear that essential oils are good for you, and depending on which scent you use (if you have a preference) you may be getting extra benefits apart from having your beard looking and smelling divine.
