What’s new // Our new shower power duo

We quite often get feedback from you lovely people about products you’d like to see from us - which we love, by the way. Not only does it let us know which direction to head in, it’s also gratifying to know you’d like more on offer from our brand. So with no further adeau; we proudly introduce our new shampoo and conditioner as part of the Alfriston range! So if you’re totally in love with our Alfriston balm and oil already then you’ll no doubt find the shampoo and conditioner just as heavenly for your barnet, with the same Bergamot and Rose Geranium scent it will leave you (as well as your bathroom – always worth some brownie points) smelling delightful.

It’s not all scent and no substance though; specifically designed for men containing Sea Buckthorn, Oat and Argan it will have both your hair and beard looking ship shape in no time. It’s all very well us listing these luxurious sounding ingredients but what do they actually do? We always carefully select our ingredients for their benefits and we think that this mixture is a winning combo and works wonderfully on your beard and hair alike.

So let’s get down to the nitty gritty -  Hippophae Rhamnoides aka Sea Buckthorn. It’s a small shrub that grows at high altitudes and can be found in parts of Europe, China, Mongolia, Russia, and Canada. As well as having many benefits for your internal health it has also proven effective topically. This is largely due to the essential fatty acids it contains, including the elusive Omega 7. It is also rich in vitamins A, B, C, E and K which in combination will help promote hair strength and elasticity. Vitamin A is particularly good at supporting scalp health and can help if you suffer from a dry, flaky scalp and Vitamin E has been proven to help increase circulation which in turn promotes hair growth and will ensure the hairs are well conditioned.

We have long been a fan of Argan, using it in many of our products for its beard benefits we thought it would be rude not to include it our shampoo and conditioner, and boy does it work well (not that we ever doubted this super oil). Argan is actually a fruit found mainly in Morocco, the oil is extracted from Argan kernals (found beneath the fleshy pulp of the fruit), these are then ground up to produce the oil which is then filtered for purity. Similarly to Sea Buckthorn it contains essential fatty acids and Vitamin E, so you’re getting a double hit of antioxidants (helps to fight damaging free radicals) to repair damaged strands, de-frizz and add shine. Argan oil is so good at retaining moisture in the hair strands as its small molecular structure means it is more readily absorbed in to the hair cuticles, so nourishes the hair from the inside out. It doesn’t stop there though, Argan has anti-inflammatory properties meaning for those who suffer from a dry scalp or dandruff it will help to soothe without clogging pores (which can damage cuticles and promote other skin issues).

Now we all know oats are destined to go down as one of the healthiest breakfast in history but why add them to conditioning treatments? Well just like Sea Buckthorn and Argan oats are packed full of nutrients your skin and hair that will benefit. Oats are particularly good at soaking up excess oils in the scalp, so is good if your hair runs on the greasy side. By removing the excess oil it will ensure the hair follicles remain healthy and unclogged and will encourage new hair growth. Conversely it also works for those who suffer with dandruff as it has anti-inflammatory properties which help to soothe the itch and repair the scalp. Oats are easily absorbed and are full of polysaccharides which are rich in Omega 6, this fatty acid is great at repairing damage and will also leave your hair looking and feeling healthy and shiny, always a bonus!

As if they weren’t packed with goodness already we’ve gone and added just a touch of Aloe Vera, this is just an extra step to compound the nourishing effects of our shampoo and conditioner duo. Aloe contains Proteolytic enzymes which repair dead skin cells on the scalp which again creates a healthy environment for the new hair to grow. Always striving to use natural ingredients Aloe is perfect addition as it is a natural conditioner on its own, its chemical makeup is similar to that of Keratin (what our hair and nails are made up of) this means that it can restore elasticity and helps to prevent hair breakage rejuvenating the hair through its own nutrients.

So our new line up in the Alfriston range should be the new line up in your bathroom, not only does it smell outrageously good our shampoo and conditioners gentle formula is suitable for all hair and beard types, it will cleanse the hair whilst restoring vitality and shine through the essential nutrients it contains. What more could you want!?
