Eat your way to a healthier beard // Nº3

Since it’s still scorching, this week we bring you a beard-feeding smoothie that will cool you down, fill you up, and you can make it in mere minutes, meaning more time to get out in the sun. We like to call this one the Berry Beardy – it’s great for breakfast or as a snack between meals, and is very friendly to anyone with food intolerances as well as vegans.

beard berry smoothie

½ ripe avocado
2 handfuls of spinach
2 small handfuls of berries (we used a frozen berry mix)
2 tbsp of chia seeds
¾ glass of unsweetened almond milk
tbsp. of agave nectar (optional, to sweeten)

Let’s break it down for you:

Vitamin C from the berries is essential for helping the body absorb iron from the spinach. The vitamin C aids to form collagen, which keeps hair strong and supple, while the iron enables oxygen flow around the body, vital for maintaining healthy hair follicles. Almond milk gives you the protein here, integral to building healthy hair structure, and avocado boosts the protein content while also adding vitamin B, great for growth, and vitamin E which will repair any damage at the root. The chia seeds act as a booster, so you’ll still have a great smoothie if you can’t find them in your Tesco Express, but they’re worth having as a cupboard staple for extra nutrition brownie points. Not just for aussie beach babes and health food fanatics, they contain the highest level of omega 3-s of any known plant product, which will encourage the skin’s oil production for soft skin and a shiny beard.

Chuck all the ingredients in a blender, give it a whizz and bam: an ultra-nutritious drink in 2 minutes. How’s that for fast food?
